The Data Analyst is equal parts data wrangler, analyst, strategist, evangelist, and storyteller.  They will influence and impact multiple divisions and departments including marketing, editorial, advertising, product development, and technology.  They will accomplish this by sifting through raw data from a variety of sources and formats, analyzing that data, and then crafting stories with visualizations that help stakeholders understand and improve business performance. It's an important role and this person will have influence at all levels of the organization.

As the Data Analyst, we'll expect outcomes that include :

  • Increase business intelligence usage within Outreach by 25% each year.
  • Deploy a new departmental dashboard each quarter.
  • Deploy a new, visualization-ready data source each month.

Additionally, we'll expect the Data Analyst to:

  • This person must also demonstrate integrity, operate in a way that contributes to teamwork, operate with agility, stewardship, and a commitment to continuous process improvement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Economics, Math, Computer Science, etc.) or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years' experience working in data analysis, preferably with a marketing and digital media focus.
  • Experience analyzing large sets of data and building models, trends and forecasts.  Big data tooling experience a plus (e.g. Spark, Hadoop, Scala, etc.)
  • Experience with Excel and utilization of pivot tables, vlookup, and other analytical functions.
  • Experience with data visualizations and accurate representations of data, and skills with data visualization tools such as Domo, Tableau, Looker, or PowerBI.  Domo experience definitely preferred.
  • Excellent grasp of Python and SQL and their multiple flavors and implementations.
  • Proficiency in R or similar statistical languages/platforms.
  • Experience applying Business Intelligence (BI) practices to develop solutions to support standard reporting, dashboards and self-service data analysis.
  • Experience constructing models for cohort and lifetime value analyses.  Experience with subscription products is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of Google Analytics, as well as A/B and multivariate testing techniques and measurements.
  • Knowledge of key digital marketing KPIs.
  • Experience with technical analytics implementation, including website tagging, campaign tracking, and classification, debugging, etc. is a plus.
  • Knowledge of ETL and data warehouse concepts and processes.
